New Anthology: Bachelor franchise
If you know me, you know that I was a ginormous Bachelor/Bachelorette fan. I grew up watching it, and have consistently watched since Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of the Bachelorette. Though, admittedly, I could not stomach the franchise after Matt's Bachelor season. I even had a short-run at co-hosting a podcast about the Bachelor franchise, with a good friend of mine and artist, Cynthia Huerta. We gabbed and we laughed, and we deeply deeply scorned the producers, during our tenure.
Anyways, through that fandom, I found some other like-minded progressive folks who also indulge in the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise. And one day, I was asked to participate in this anthology co-edited by a professor I met at one of my talks while in Nebraska, Dr. Stevie K. Seibert Desjarlais and writer Ilana Masad. Of course, I wrote about Latinas within the franchise, and I most definitely criticized the franchise for their treatment of Latines in general.
The anthology is set to publish on May 5, 2026, and here is the link, for those of you who also indulge in problematic reality television from time-to-time.
